TDI Areo has developed a family of low power, high performance indicators for use in flight and engine instruments.
TDI Aero has available a range of electromagnetic indicators includes magnetic wheel indicators & flag failure indicators. They can be used as single units or as stacked assemblies to present either a multiple-digit or alpha-numeric display & are designed for continuous operation to 125°C. Electromagnetic indicators are ideally suited as aircraft instrument readouts.
Reliability is excellent even in direct sunlight. If power fails, readout remains visible. The only moving component is the indicator permanent magnetic rotor which is mounted on ball bearings. Designs ensure reliable performance in severe thermal shock environments.
Used in Aircraft Anti-Skid Control Systems (Other common terms : Wheel Speed Transducers, Wheel Speed Sensors) A critical component of aircraft braking systems, wheel tachometers are required to convert rotational wheel speed information into periodic voltage signals. Anti-skid control systems monitor the variation in wheel tachometer signal frequency to detect incipient skidding. TDI Aero designs and manufactures, to customer specifications, wheel tachometers to meet the challenges of high cycle life and adverse environmental requirements in both commercial and military aircraft.

Proximity sensors are used throughout the aircraft in applications such as landing gear position, thrust reverser position and hatch and door position. TDI Aero has designs and manufactures Proximity Sensors to meet customer envelope and performance requirements.
TDI Aero engineering has expertise in an array of electromagnetic devices. We provide full engineering support from design inception, to prototype build and test, to manufacturing process development through to completion of qualification testing for products such as instrumentation indicators, wheel speed tachometers, proximity sensors and permanent magnet alternators. We carry out product developments from blank sheet to completion of qualification and release to production with full manufacturing documentation, tooling and fixtures. We have had customers who have lost the source of an older critical product. TDI Aero has been able to reverse-engineer the product and then manufacture a successful alternate. Engineering carries out the qualification test program using a combination of in-house test equipment (environmental and endurance test chamber, signal performance testing, electrical safety testing) and third party test laboratories (vibration, shock, sand and dust, salt fog etc.) Turning and Milling With over 50 years’ experience in turning and milling applications, we are focused on excellence in machining services.

The TDI Aero manufacturing facility has a machine shop and an assembly and test floor. Some products that we manufacture are “build to print” to customer-supplied manufacturing documentation. Our other products are TDI Aero designs that are built to manufacturing documentation supplied by TDI Aero Engineering. The machine shop and assembly floor are used to build prototype products as well as the normal production products. TDI Aero offers state of the art manufacturing assembly services. Assembly processing expertise includes:
“Build to Print” products often require tooling, fixturing and process development that are not customer supplied.
The tooling and fixturing is designed by Hypernetics engineering and built by TDI Aero manufacturing.
The design processes carried out at TDI Aero involve electromagnetic, structural, thermal and reliability analyses to produce candidate designs to meet customer requirements.
Test equipment and fixtures required to validate the candidate are also designed by TDI Aero engineering.
Full documentation of the design configuration is produced by TDI Aero engineering.
Our optical comparators provide high accuracy, bright, crisp, inverted images for error free quality inspection and metrology applications. Magnification error is 0.01% or less for contours and 0.15% or less for surfaces.
The latest addition to our arsenal is the Keyence Image Dimension Measuring Machine. This is a next generation Optical Comparator able to accurately measure complex geometry (including precise positional tolerances) within just a few seconds.
Our vertical coordinate measurement machine (CMM) expands our capabilities in the inspection area.The CMM increases the accuracy and speed of our inspections offering the highest quality of inspections services to our customers.
